Avocado Dip Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
- 1 small jalapeño, seeded for less heat
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients including ripe avocados, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, cilantro, Greek yogurt or sour cream, and seasonings. Peel and pit the avocados, and seed the jalapeño if desired for milder heat.
- Blend the Dip: In a food processor or blender, combine the avocados, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, cilantro, Greek yogurt, cumin, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning as needed by adding more salt, lime juice, or cayenne for desired flavor and heat levels.
- Serve or Store: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and serve immediately. To store, cover with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface of the dip to prevent browning, then refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
- For extra texture, pulse the ingredients instead of fully blending to retain some chunkiness.
- Add chopped tomatoes or red onion to create a chunkier dip variation.
- This dip pairs perfectly with tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, tacos, or grilled meats.
