Description

This Slow Cooker Honey Balsamic Pulled Pork is a tender, flavorful dish featuring succulent pork slow-cooked to perfection and coated in a rich, sweet, and tangy honey balsamic sauce. Perfect for easy gatherings or a comforting family dinner, this recipe yields juicy pulled pork that can be enjoyed on buns or as a main dish with your favorite sides.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 lb boneless pork roast
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder

Honey Balsamic Sauce

  • 1 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • a pinch of black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tsp minced garlic

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pork in the slow cooker: Place the boneless pork roast in the slow cooker. Pour water around the roast and sprinkle with seasoned salt and garlic powder. Cover with the lid and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily falls apart.
  2. Make the honey balsamic sauce: Just before the pork finishes cooking, combine balsamic vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and minced garlic in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Thicken the sauce: Allow the sauce to boil gently for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens into a syrupy consistency, enhancing its rich, bold flavors.
  4. Shred the pork: Once the pork is cooked, carefully drain off any juices from the slow cooker. Remove the roast and shred it using two forks until pulled apart and tender.
  5. Combine pork and sauce: Stir half of the thickened honey balsamic sauce into the shredded pork to coat it thoroughly and infuse flavor. Serve the pulled pork warm on buns with the remaining sauce on the side for additional taste.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the pork is cooked until it easily shreds with a fork.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to control the level of heat according to your preference.
  • The remaining sauce can be refrigerated for up to one week or frozen for longer storage.
  • This pulled pork is delicious served on sandwich buns, over rice, or alongside roasted vegetables.
  • If you don’t have a slow cooker, the pork can be cooked in a low oven at 300°F for 3 to 4 hours, covered tightly.
