Wet Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping:
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 cups hot water (not boiling)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Layer and Bake: Spread batter in the dish. Mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa, sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water on top.
- Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes until set. A gooey pudding layer will form at the bottom.

Notes
- Do not stir the hot water on top; it creates the self-saucing pudding layer.
- Best served warm; store leftovers and reheat in the microwave as needed.
