Description

A fun and delicious twist on classic pizza, this Pepperoni Pizza Layer Cake stacks three pizza crusts layered with rich tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, pepperoni, and optional toppings. Baked to bubbly perfection, it’s perfect for parties or a playful family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Base and Layers

  • 3 (12-inch) pre-baked pizza crusts
  • 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups sliced pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Optional Toppings

  • Sliced black olives
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for baking the pizza cake.
  2. Prepare Pan: Lightly grease a tall 8-inch springform pan or a deep cake pan with olive oil or nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Layer the First Crust: Place one pizza crust in the bottom of the pan. Trim edges slightly if needed for a snug fit.
  4. Add First Layer of Toppings: Spread 1/2 cup of pizza sauce evenly over the crust, sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan, and a pinch of Italian seasoning. Add one-third of the pepperoni and any optional toppings you like.
  5. Repeat Layers: Repeat layering two more times: crust, sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, pepperoni, and optional toppings, making three layers in total.
  6. Top Layer: Finish with a final layer of sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni on top for a beautifully topped cake.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the pan loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and flavors to meld.
  8. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until the top is bubbling and golden brown.
  9. Rest Before Serving: Let the pizza cake rest for 10 minutes before slicing, allowing the layers to set for clean slices and better flavor integration.

Notes

  • For a crisper bottom crust, place the pan on a preheated baking sheet before baking.
  • Feel free to customize the fillings by including sausage, spinach, ricotta, or other favorite pizza toppings between the layers.
  • Best served warm, accompanied by extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
