Description

These crispy Onion and Feta Fritters with a delectable Sweet Chilli Soy Dipping Sauce are the perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion. The savory fritters are packed with flavor from the onions, feta, and herbs, while the tangy dipping sauce adds a delightful contrast. Easy to make and even easier to enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fritters:

  • 2 medium onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fritters: Place sliced onions in a bowl, sprinkle with salt, and let sit for 10 minutes. Squeeze out excess liquid. Add feta, parsley, oregano, eggs, flour, baking powder, and pepper. Mix into a thick batter.
  2. Fry the Fritters: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil, flatten slightly, and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  3. Make the Dipping Sauce: Whisk together sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a bowl.
  4. Serve: Drain fritters on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • You can use spring onions for a milder taste or add chili flakes for extra spice.
  • Reheat leftover fritters in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes to regain crispiness.
