Ingredients
Scale
Cake Base
- 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream Cheese Topping
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Make Cake Batter: In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, 2 eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan to form the base layer.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: In a separate bowl, beat together the confectioners’ sugar, softened cream cheese, and the remaining 2 eggs until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Pour this mixture evenly over the cake batter in the pan.
- Bake the Cake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, indicating the cake is fully cooked.
- Cool and Slice: Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, slice into squares and serve.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the topping.
- Greasing the pan well will help with easy removal of the cake once baked.
- For a richer flavor, you can use buttercream frosting as an alternative topping.
- This cake can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- If you prefer a less sweet version, reduce the confectioners’ sugar slightly in the cream cheese layer.
