Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef or turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (plus extra slices for “teeth”)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp ketchup (plus more for topping)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Decorations
- Extra onion slices for jagged teeth
- 2 black olives (whole or halved for “eyes”)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the meatloaf.
- Prepare the meat mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to a lined baking sheet and carefully shape it into a creepy monster face. Form features like a mouth, nose, and eye sockets as desired.
- Add facial features: Insert the extra onion slices along the mouth for jagged teeth, place the black olives in the eye sockets to serve as eerie eyes, and spread additional ketchup on top and around the mouth area to resemble dripping blood.
- Bake the meatloaf: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is fully cooked through.
- Rest and serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving to allow juices to settle.
Notes
- You can use either ground beef or turkey depending on your preference for flavor and fat content.
- For a firmer texture, ensure the breadcrumbs are well distributed and not too dry.
- If you want a spicier kick, add a pinch of chili flakes or hot sauce to the meat mixture.
- The ketchup topping can be substituted with barbecue sauce for a different flavor profile.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
