Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Seasoning
- 2 lbs sirloin steak
- 1 tsp Mrs. Dash seasoning
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp paprika
Cooking Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 large garlic clove (finely grated or pressed)
- 1 1/2 cups whipping cream
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Season the Steak: Begin by seasoning the sirloin steak evenly with Mrs. Dash seasoning, pepper, salt, and paprika. This step ensures the beef is well-flavored before cooking.
- Brown the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the steak pieces and brown them on all sides to seal in the juices, about 4-5 minutes per side. This creates a flavorful crust.
- Add Aromatics and Liquids: Stir in the finely grated or pressed garlic, then add soy sauce and water to the pan. Bring the mixture to a simmer, cover, and reduce the heat to low to allow the beef to cook slowly and become tender, approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours.
- Prepare the Cream Sauce: In a separate small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the all-purpose flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in the whipping cream until the sauce is smooth and thickened, about 4-5 minutes.
- Combine and Finish Cooking: Once the beef is tender, remove the lid from the skillet and stir in the cream sauce. Continue cooking uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken further. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve: Serve the beef stroganoff hot over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes as desired, garnished with optional fresh herbs if preferred.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, allow the cream sauce to simmer longer before combining with the beef.
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor impact.
- Sirloin steak should be cut into consistent pieces to ensure even cooking.
- Mrs. Dash seasoning is a salt-free blend; adjust salt levels according to your taste preference.
- This recipe can be served with egg noodles or steamed rice for a traditional experience.
