Ingredients
Scale
Liquids
- 1½ ounces Key Lime Juice
- 1 ounce Agave Syrup
- 1½ ounces Tequila
- 1½ ounces Cointreau (orange liqueur)
Garnishes
- Kosher Salt (for rimming the glass)
- Lime wedges (for rimming and garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the shaker: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice to chill and create the perfect environment for mixing the drink thoroughly.
- Add ingredients: Pour in 1½ ounces of tequila, 1½ ounces of Cointreau, 1½ ounces of key lime juice, and 1 ounce of agave syrup into the shaker.
- Shake vigorously: Secure the lid and shake vigorously to thoroughly blend the citrus, alcohol, and sweetener, chilling the mixture nicely.
- Rim the glass: Take a lime wedge and rub it around the rim of your serving glass. Then invert the glass onto a small plate filled with kosher salt to coat the rim evenly.
- Serve: Fill the salted glass with fresh ice, strain the cocktail from the shaker into the glass, and garnish with a fresh lime wedge on the rim.
- Enjoy immediately: Serve your Key Lime Margarita right away to experience the perfect balance of tart, sweet, and salty in every sip.
Notes
- Use fresh key lime juice for authentic, bright flavor; bottled lime juice may lack the same vibrancy.
- Adjust agave syrup quantity to taste if you prefer sweeter or tarter margaritas.
- For a stronger lime aroma, muddle a few lime wedges in the shaker before adding ice and other ingredients.
- Consider using a coarse kosher salt or a blend of salt and finely grated lime zest for extra zest on the glass rim.
- To make a larger batch, scale ingredients proportionally and shake in batches or mix in a pitcher and stir with ice before serving.
