Quick to prepare and cooked entirely on the stovetop, it makes a delightful main course that can be served over rice for a satisfying, healthy dinner that will wow you every time.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

For Serving (Optional)

  • Cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, beef broth, and sesame oil until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they are crisp-tender. Remove broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Arrange the sliced beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes, turning once midway, until browned on both sides.
  4. Add Aromatics: Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  5. Combine and Thicken: Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and all ingredients are evenly coated.
  6. Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot, optionally over cooked white rice for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • If using frozen broccoli, steam it slightly before adding to the pan to avoid excess moisture.
  • Add red pepper flakes to the sauce or while cooking for a spicy kick.
