Ingredients
Scale
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Beverage
- 1 shot espresso (or strongly brewed coffee)
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar syrup (or to taste)
- ¾ cup unsweetened oat milk
Instructions
- Make the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the water, brown sugar, and cinnamon stick. Heat over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture is slightly thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Discard the cinnamon stick and let the syrup cool.
- Prepare the Espresso: Brew one shot of espresso using an espresso machine or prepare a small amount of strong coffee if an espresso machine is unavailable.
- Shake the Espresso with Syrup: In a cocktail shaker or a jar with a tight lid, combine the hot espresso and 2 teaspoons of the cooled brown sugar syrup. Add ice to fill the shaker halfway. Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to chill and create a frothy texture.
- Assemble the Drink: Pour the shaken espresso mixture into a glass filled with ice. Add the unsweetened oat milk, and stir gently to combine.
- Serve: Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick for extra flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your iced brown sugar shaken espresso.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less syrup according to your taste.
- If you don’t have oat milk, any unsweetened plant-based milk or dairy milk can be substituted.
- For a stronger cinnamon flavor, allow the syrup to steep longer with the cinnamon stick before removing it.
- To make this recipe dairy-free, ensure your oat milk is unsweetened and free from any dairy additives.
- Using freshly brewed espresso is recommended for the best flavor, but high-quality strong coffee works well as a substitute.
