Butter Mixture
- ½ cup salted butter (113 grams, melted; 1 stick)
- ¼ cup brown sugar (53 grams)
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (3 grams)
Chex Mix
- 4 cups Apple Cinnamon Chex cereal (120 grams)
- 3 cups Bugles Sweet & Salty Caramel Corn Snacks (135 grams)
- 3 cups mini pretzel twists (120 grams)
Candy Mix-In
- 1 cup candy corn (200 grams)
- 1 cup Brach’s Mellowcreme Pumpkins (200 grams)
- 1 cup Reese’s Pieces (170 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a 12×16-inch baking sheet with parchment paper if desired for easy cleanup and set aside.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, thoroughly whisk together the melted salted butter, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Dry Ingredients and Butter: In a large bowl, toss the Apple Cinnamon Chex cereal, caramel Bugles, and mini pretzel twists together. Drizzle the spiced butter mixture over the snack mix and toss again until everything is evenly coated.
- Bake the Mix: Spread the coated Chex mix in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour, stirring and tossing the mix every 15 minutes to ensure even baking and to prevent burning. The mix should turn a deep golden color when done.
- Cool the Mix: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the Chex mix to cool completely for at least 30 minutes. Cooling is important so the candy pieces won’t melt in the next step.
- Add Candy and Toss to Combine: Once cooled, add the candy corn, Brach’s Mellowcreme pumpkins, and Reese’s Pieces to the mix. Toss gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Serve: Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a week for a deliciously festive Halloween snack.
Notes
- Make sure the snack mix is completely cooled before adding candy pieces to prevent melting and sticking.
- You can substitute different seasonal candy if preferred or to accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Store the mix in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crunch.
- Tossing every 15 minutes during baking is crucial to ensure even coating and prevent burning.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne or chili powder to the butter mixture.
