Ideal for summertime grilling, they offer a delightful combination of smoky, tangy, and sweet flavors that are easy to prepare and sure to please a crowd.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 pineapple, cut into 18 pieces, each about 1 1/2 inches
  • 1 red or orange bell pepper, cut into 18 pieces, each about 1 1/2 inches
  • 1 medium red onion, cut into 18 pieces
  • 1 lb large turkey sausages or kielbasa, cut into 18 rings about 1 1/2 inches thick

Marinade

  • 1/4 cup original BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup
  • 2 tsp TABASCO® Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium heat, aiming for about 300°F to ensure even cooking without burning.
  2. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup original BBQ sauce, 1/4 cup real maple syrup, and 2 teaspoons of TABASCO® Sauce. Stir well to blend all flavors together and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Kabobs: Thread the turkey sausage slices, pineapple chunks, bell pepper pieces, and red onion pieces onto the skewers, alternating ingredients to create a colorful and balanced kabob.
  4. Marinate and Grill: Brush the assembled skewers generously with the prepared marinade. Place them on the preheated grill, cover, and cook for 3 minutes on the first side. Then turn the skewers, brush with more marinade, and continue grilling for about 2 minutes per side. Keep brushing with marinade each time you turn the kabobs until the vegetables are cooked to your desired tenderness, with a total grilling time of approximately 10 to 12 minutes.

Notes

  • Use real maple syrup for the best authentic flavor in the marinade.
  • Ensure skewers are soaked in water for 30 minutes prior to grilling if using wooden skewers to prevent burning.
  • You can substitute turkey sausage with chicken sausage or kielbasa according to preference.
  • Adjust the amount of TABASCO® Sauce based on your desired spice level.
  • Serve immediately off the grill for best flavor and texture.
