Description

The Grapefruit Paloma is a refreshing, citrus-forward cocktail that combines the tartness of fresh grapefruit and lime juices with the smoothness of blanco tequila. Perfect for a quick, vibrant drink, this recipe uses coarse salt to rim the glass, enhancing the flavors and adding a delightful contrast to the bright, sparkling soda topping.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Glass Rim:

  • Coarse salt, for rimming the glass

For the Cocktail:

  • 2 ounces blanco tequila (100% agave)
  • 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce agave syrup or simple syrup
  • 2 ounces club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice
  • Optional: additional grapefruit and lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a highball glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into a shallow plate filled with coarse salt to coat evenly. Fill the glass with ice and set aside to chill.
  2. Mix the Cocktail: Add 2 ounces of blanco tequila, 2 ounces of fresh grapefruit juice, ½ ounce of fresh lime juice, and ½ ounce of agave or simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds to chill and blend the ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Assemble the Drink: Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared highball glass filled with ice. Top off with 2 ounces of club soda or sparkling water and gently stir to combine.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Add optional grapefruit and lime slices for garnish to enhance presentation and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Grapefruit Paloma.

Notes

  • Use fresh citrus juice for the best flavor impact.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the agave or simple syrup quantity according to taste.
  • If preferred, substitute club soda with flavored sparkling water for a different twist.
  • The coarse salt rim adds an exciting flavor contrast; kosher salt can be used as a substitute.
  • This recipe serves one but can easily be scaled up for multiple servings.
