Description

Crispy oven-baked garlic fries tossed in a fragrant mixture of minced garlic and fresh parsley, seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper. This easy-to-make side dish is ideal for serving alongside burgers, sandwiches, or as a savory snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 28 ounce (794 g) bag of frozen french fries
  • 1/8 cup (29.5 ml) vegetable oil, divided

Garlic & Herb Mixture

  • 1/8 cup (29.5 ml) vegetable oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 handful fresh parsley, finely minced

Seasoning

  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets: Preheat your oven to 450 °F (232 °C) and spray two baking sheets with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Set them aside.
  2. Coat Frozen Fries with Oil: In a large bowl, add the frozen french fries. Drizzle half of the vegetable oil (about 1/8 cup or 29.5 ml) over the fries and toss thoroughly to ensure they are evenly coated with oil for crispiness.
  3. Arrange Fries and Initial Bake: Evenly divide the fries between the two prepared baking sheets. Place them in the oven and bake for 20 minutes until the fries begin to brown and become tender.
  4. Increase Oven Temperature and Crisp Fries: After 10 minutes at 450 °F, raise the oven temperature to 500 °F (260 °C) and continue baking the fries for an additional 7-10 minutes. This higher heat crisps the fries further and gives them a golden brown color.
  5. Prepare Garlic Herb Oil: While the fries bake, combine the remaining vegetable oil (about 1/8 cup or 29.5 ml), minced garlic, and minced fresh parsley in a bowl. Mix well to infuse the oil with garlic flavor and herbs.
  6. Toss Fries with Garlic Herb Oil: When fries are cooked, immediately transfer them using tongs into the bowl with the garlic oil mixture. Toss well to coat all fries thoroughly with the fragrant oil and herbs.
  7. Season and Serve: Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the garlic fries hot to enjoy their best flavor and crispy texture.

Notes

  • Adjust salt and pepper seasoning according to your preference.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best and most vibrant flavor.
  • For extra crispiness, shake the fries midway through baking to promote even cooking.
  • This recipe works well with any frozen fries variety, such as shoestring, crinkle-cut, or steak fries.
  • To keep fries warm and crispy before serving, place them in a warm oven (around 200 °F) after tossing with garlic oil.
