Description
A simple and flavorful Garlic Butter Pasta that comes together quickly using basic pantry ingredients. Tender spaghetti tossed in a rich garlic butter sauce, accented with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, makes for a perfect easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 8 oz spaghetti or pasta of choice
Sauce
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Additional Flavorings
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining the pasta. Set the cooked pasta aside.
- Make Garlic Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. If using, stir in the red pepper flakes to add a touch of heat.
- Toss Pasta in Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly in the butter and garlic.
- Adjust Sauce Consistency: Slowly add some of the reserved pasta water a little at a time to loosen up the sauce and help it cling to the pasta, stirring to combine.
- Add Cheese and Herbs: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley. Continue tossing until all ingredients are well integrated and the sauce is creamy.
- Season and Serve: Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss once more and serve immediately while warm and flavorful.
