Ingredients
Scale
Doughnuts
- 1 ten count can Texas style biscuits (or your preference)
- Vegetable Oil for frying (enough to fill skillet to just under ½ inch depth)
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into a skillet to a depth just under ½ inch. Heat the oil on medium to medium-high heat for about five minutes until hot but not smoking.
- Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sugar and 1½ tablespoons cinnamon. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
- Cut the Biscuits: Using a small round cookie cutter, cut out the center hole from each biscuit to form donut shapes and separate the holes.
- Fry the Doughnuts: Carefully drop the donut shapes and holes into the hot oil. Fry, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown on all sides, approximately 1-2 minutes per side.
- Drain the Doughnuts: Remove the fried doughnuts and holes with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: While still warm, press both sides of each donut and donut hole into the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
- Serve Warm: Enjoy these delicious, warm biscuit doughnuts immediately for best taste and texture.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent greasy donuts.
- You can substitute Texas-style biscuits with your preferred brand or flavor of canned biscuits.
- Use caution when frying and turning the donuts to avoid burns.
- For a variation, add a drizzle of glaze or powdered sugar after coating with cinnamon sugar.
- Donuts are best served fresh but can be reheated briefly in the oven for a few minutes.
