Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 lb ground beef, browned
Aromatics and Seasonings
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Tomato Products
- 2 cans (10.5 oz each) diced tomatoes
- 1 small can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 small can (8 oz) tomato sauce
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Use a slotted spoon to drain off the grease thoroughly.
- Combine Ingredients in Crockpot: Transfer the browned beef to a 4-5 quart crockpot. Add the minced garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, dried basil, dried parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together to combine evenly.
- Cook the Sauce: Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
- Serve: Once cooked, serve the spaghetti sauce hot over your favorite cooked pasta for a comforting and delicious meal.
Notes
- Brown the beef well to develop deep flavor and reduce grease in the sauce.
- Adjust the seasoning with extra salt, pepper, or herbs as desired before serving.
- If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
- This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the beef and add vegetables like mushrooms or lentils instead.
