Dumpling Wrappers
- 1 cup rice paper sheets
Filling
- 1/2 cup cooked rice
- 1/4 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup shredded carrots
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
For Frying
- 1 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Soften Rice Paper: Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper sheet into the water for about 5 seconds until it becomes soft and pliable.
- Prepare Wrapping Surface: Place the softened rice paper sheet flat on a clean, dry surface to prepare for filling.
- Mix Filling: In a small bowl, combine cooked rice, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped cilantro, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well to blend all flavors.
- Add Filling: Spoon a small amount of the filling mixture onto the center of the rice paper sheet.
- Fold Dumpling: Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then fold the bottom up, and tightly roll from the bottom to form a neat dumpling.
- Repeat: Repeat the wrapping process with remaining rice paper sheets and filling mixture to make all 12 dumplings.
- Heat Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until hot.
- Fry Dumplings: Carefully add dumplings to the hot oil without overcrowding. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain Excess Oil: Remove dumplings with tongs and place on paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Serve: Serve the crispy dumplings hot with your favorite dipping sauce for an irresistible treat.
Notes
- Ensure rice paper is not soaked too long or it will tear.
- Use a spatula or tongs carefully to avoid breaking the delicate dumplings while frying.
- Maintain medium-high heat for crispy texture without burning.
- Feel free to customize the filling with other vegetables or proteins as desired.
- Serve immediately for the best crispiness.
