Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 large zucchini
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- Paprika (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius (about 400 degrees Fahrenheit) to prepare for baking the zucchini chips.
- Slice the zucchini: Using a mandoline slicer, carefully cut the zucchini into very thin slices, between 1/8 to 1/16 inch thick, to ensure crispiness.
- Season the slices: Place the zucchini slices in a large mixing bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss gently but thoroughly to completely coat each slice with oil.
- Arrange on baking sheets: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Lay the zucchini slices on the sheets in a single layer, making sure they do not overlap or touch. Sprinkle evenly with salt and a pinch of paprika if using.
- Bake the chips: Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours, or until the chips become crisp and golden brown, checking for doneness as ovens may vary.
- Cool the chips: Once crispy, turn off the oven and transfer the chips onto paper towels or leave them on the baking sheets to cool. This helps absorb any excess oil and enhances crispiness.
- Store properly: After cooling completely, store the zucchini chips in an airtight container to maintain crunch and freshness.
Notes
- For extra flavor, experiment with different seasonings like garlic powder, chili flakes, or Parmesan cheese.
- Using a mandoline ensures uniform thin slices for even baking and crispiness.
- Keep the zucchini slices spaced apart on the baking sheet to avoid soggy chips.
- If you prefer, you can also cook these chips in an air fryer at 180°C (356°F) for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Monitor the chips closely toward the end of baking time to prevent burning.
