Description

This creamy and flavorful Bean Dip Recipe is a perfect appetizer for gatherings and game days. Combining refried beans with a blend of spices, salsa, and cheese, it is baked to bubbly perfection and served warm with crunchy tortilla chips. A simple yet irresistible dip that can be customized with optional garnishes like cilantro and jalapenos.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 oz. canned refried beans (traditional)
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup Colby jack cheese (or cheddar cheese shredded, divided)

To Serve

  • Tortilla chips
  • Cilantro (optional)
  • Jalapenos (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Combine: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium-sized mixing bowl, stir together the refried beans, salsa, sour cream, cumin, chili powder, salt, and 1/4 cup of shredded cheese until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Assemble and Bake: Transfer the bean mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese has melted and the dip is hot and bubbly throughout.
  3. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve warm with tortilla chips and garnish with cilantro and jalapenos if desired for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, add more chili powder or fresh jalapenos.
  • Use cheddar cheese as a substitute for Colby jack if preferred.
  • Can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated.
