Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For Cooking
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Season the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly on both sides with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to impart flavor into the meat.
- Heat the Pan: Heat olive oil and butter together in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter is melted and beginning to bubble.
- Cook the Chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until it becomes fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Deglaze the Pan: Pour in the chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pan to release any browned bits for extra flavor. Allow the broth to simmer and reduce by half to concentrate the taste.
- Add Cream and Cheese: Stir in the heavy cream and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency.
- Season the Sauce: Add the Italian seasoning, and adjust salt and pepper to taste, enhancing the overall flavor of the sauce.
- Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Let everything simmer together for 3-4 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top before serving to add a touch of color and freshness.
Notes
- You can use chicken thighs if you prefer darker meat; adjust cooking time accordingly.
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, but the sauce will be less rich.
- Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables to complete the meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
