Indulge in the whimsical and nostalgic flavors of cotton candy with this delightful Cotton Candy Popcorn recipe. Perfect for parties, movie nights, or just a fun snack, this colorful treat is sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn:

  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup kernels)

Syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
  • Pink and blue gel food coloring (or colors of your choice)
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Grease the parchment with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Prepare popcorn: Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
  3. Make syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Boil until it reaches 235–240°F, then remove from heat.
  4. Add flavors: Stir in cotton candy flavoring and food coloring. Pour over popcorn and mix well.
  5. Bake: Spread popcorn on the baking sheet. Bake for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  6. Cool and serve: Let the popcorn cool completely before breaking into clusters and serving.

Notes

  • You can divide the syrup to create multi-colored popcorn.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • For extra fun, add cotton candy-flavored hard candies or sprinkles after baking.
