Ingredients
Scale
Pie
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
Filling
- 1 cup apple butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the pie.
- Mix Wet Ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the apple butter, brown sugar, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Add Dry Ingredients and Flavorings. Pour in the evaporated milk, then sprinkle the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt, and vanilla extract into the bowl. Whisk everything together until fully combined with no lumps.
- Fill Pie Crust. Pour the prepared filling evenly into the unbaked 9-inch pie crust, making sure it is evenly spread.
- Bake the Pie. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cool the Pie. Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely on a wire rack to firm up properly.
- Chill Before Serving. For best results, chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
- You can use either homemade or store-bought apple butter depending on availability and preference.
- The texture of this pie closely resembles pumpkin pie but with a richer and more distinct apple flavor.
